Willie and Linda Akers Endowed Scholarship

Available to all undergraduate students with first preference going to those majoring in Athletic Coaching Education. Recipients must maintain a GPA of 2.5. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they maintain a 2.5 GPA.

Dr. K. Douglas Bowers' Athletic Training Scholarship

The Dr. K. Douglas Bowers Athletic Training Scholarship was established in 2000 by family, friends, and alumni of the athletic training program at West Virginia University.

Dr. K Douglas Bowers was Team Physician and Orthopedic Surgeon for WVU Athletics from 1966 to 1997. During this period he covered 335 consecutive WVU football games. He was always supportive and helpful to the Athletic Trainers he worked with and strongly believed in a "team" approach to Sports Medicine. He will always be remembered as a dear friend to the WVU Athletic Training Education Program.

This scholarship emphasizes the service component as an athletic training student. Pre-requisits include a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and good citizenship

Dana D. Brooks Doctoral Student Book Scholarship

For a doctoral graduate assistant in the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences’ Sport and Exercise Psychology discipline who shows financial need and is involved in professional and/or community organizations.

Erika Lynn Cadran Memorial Athletic Training Scholarship

This scholarship is given in honor of Erika Lynn Cadran who was accepted into the athletic training program at West Virginia University on October 11, 1995. Erika passed away on October 28, 1995 after complications from an asthma attack. Erika possessed a real passion for the profession of athletic training and had dedicated herself to becoming the best athletic trainer possible. Even though Erika was with us a very short time, her sense of humor, inquisitive mind, and dedication to the profession were all attributes that each of us can take from her and instill in our daily lives.

This scholarship was made possible through contributions from family and friends of Erika.

This scholarship is awarded to those who show a real interest in athletic training and exemplify a positive attitude in all endeavors. Pre-requisits include a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and good citizenship.

Tom and Jan Cook Endowed Scholarship

For students majoring or pre-majoring in Sport and Exercise Psychology. First preference will be given to student from West Virginia

Doris Dorinzi Memorial Scholarship

For a Physical Education Teacher Education major of junior or senior standing who has a) graduated from a West Virginia high school, (b) demonstrated need for financial assistance, and ( c) demonstrated academic promise as determined by appropriate officials of the West Virginia Office of Student Financial Aid and the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences.

For a Sports Management student pursuing a MS degree and has public/professional experience in the Sports Management field. This scholarship is handed out by sport management faculty to a deserving student who meets and exceeds all criteria requirements.

Dr. Patricia K. Fehl Graduate Student Scholarship

This endowment shall provide graduate scholarships for full-time graduate students in the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences who demonstrate financial need. First priority will be given to a first-year doctoral student enrolled in the Physical Education Teacher Education/Basic Instruction Program. Second preference shall be given to a master's degree student majoring in the Physical Education or Athletic Coaching Education programs.

Jimmy Leard Memorial Athletic Training Scholarship

This endowment shall provide undergraduate scholarships for seniors enrolled in the Athletic Training program. Recipients shall demonstrate great character and leadership as demonstrated by indicators such as a great work ethic; volunteering extra time in the clinical setting; a positive attitude; going above and beyond the completion of assigned tasks; and assisting and creating a better environment for other athletic training students and teams within the athletic training program.

Albert C. "Whitey" Gwynne Athletic Training Scholarship

This scholarship is given in honor of Mr. A. C. "Whitey" Gwynne who served as an athletic trainer from the late 30's to 1975. Whitey achieved international prominence, and was respected statewide and nationally as an athletic trainer. In addition to his forty years of service to West Virginia University, he served as the athletic trainer for the U.S. Olympic Games and Pan American Games. He was very active in the early formation of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), in which he served as past president and director. He was instrumental in guiding students toward careers in athletic training.

This scholarship was made possible through contributions to the Loyalty Permanent Endowment Fund of the West Virginia University Alumni Association.

This scholarship is awarded to those who show a real interest in athletic training and exemplify a positive attitude in all endeavors. Pre-requisits include a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and good citizenship.

Robin L. Hayhurst Sport Management Scholarship

For a full-time undergraduate student majoring in sport management with good academic standing of a 2.5 GPA or higher who demonstrates financial need and is involved in a community youth sports organization. First preference goes to graduates of Hundred or Buckhannon-Upshur. Must be a WV resident. Must show financial need and show commitment and involvement in community youth sports.

Robert Hayhurst Semper Fi Scholarship

For WV residents who are juniors or seniors at CPASS and have served in the US Marine Corps. First preference will go to students majoring in Sport Management. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for considoration any other year providing they meet the selection criteria

Bob and June Huggins ACE Scholarship

For undergraduate students enrolled in Athletic Coaching Education in the College of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences.

Kelly Irene Osleger Endowed Scholarship

For an enrolled graduate or undergraduate student at CPASS with first preference to Physical Education Teacher Education and Athletic Training majors. Recipients must maintain a GPA of 2.5 and demonstrate interests and participation in community service and/or professional/campus organizations. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year, provided they continue to meet selection criteria. If a recipient is no longer eligible to receive the scholarship, another recipient may be selected.

John Semon Memorial Scholarship

For an academically qualified West Virginia resident undergraduate student with an overall GPA of 2.8 or higher, majoring in Physical Education Teacher Education and planning to teach in West Virginia.

Jerry P. Wilkins Scholarship for Leaders Award

This scholarship is awarded to a deserving ethnic minority student that has been accepted into the Graduate Sport Management Program. The recipient needs to not only have a minimum GPA of 3.0 but should also demonstrate a financial need. This scholarship is handed out by sport management faculty to a deserving student who meets and exceeds all criteria requirements.

Peter and Linda Zulia Endowed Scholarship

For an enrolled undergraduate or gradute student at CPASS with a minimum GPA of 2.5. First preferences for applicant selection will go to Athletic Training majors. A student who is a recipient one year is eligible for consideration in any other year providing they continue to meet the selection criteria.
