Biographical Sketch
Dr. Valerie Wayda served as the chair for the Department of Coaching and Teaching Studies at WVU for 10 years before moving into the Associate Dean for Undergraduate and Academic Affairs. She has always served in some administrative role beginning with her first faculty appointment at the University of Virginia (1990-93) as the coordinator of the service physical education program and faculty member in the sport psychology program. Then she relocated to Ball State University (1993-2005) as coordinator of the sport psychology program and the coaching minor. Her other administrative appointment was as the coordinator of the physical education teacher program at the University of Central Arkansas (2005-2009). Wayda is a life-time member of SHAPE America (formerly AAHPERD) and ICHPERD-SD, and has been a member of NAKHE since 2000. She has served in various leadership roles within Midwest District AAHPERD, NASPE, NAKHE and NCACE.
