WVU Athletics

Sports Marketing Assistantship

Responsibilities for WVU include creating, implementing and evaluating marketing and promotional strategies for eight varsity sports, designing promotional materials, planning in-game entertainment, writing game scripts and managing game-day operations and group ticket sales. This position is a two-year commitment.

Athletic Communications Assistantship

Responsibilities include assisting the athletic communications office in coordinating media relations for selected sports within West Virginia’s 18-sport NCAA Division I athletics program; serving as primary contact for select sports plus working with football and men’s/women’s basketball programs; assisting in statistical operations and maintenance of conference and NCAA statistics; assisting in production of media guides, recruiting brochures and press releases; assisting in maintenance of athletics web site; assisting in office management, supervision of student assistants and other duties as assigned. Candidate should have some desktop publishing experience and solid communication and writing skills. Position is generally two years long.

Mountaineer Athletic Club (MAC) Assistantship

The Mountaineer Athletic Club (MAC) is seeking applications for graduate assistants to provide support to MAC staff while gaining valuable intercollegiate athletics/development experience. Roles and responsibilities include assisting with correspondence, telephone communications and personal contacts as related to athletics department fundraising efforts and donor benefit programs. Assist with MACannual giving program that may include fulfillment of donor benefits and assistance with donor seating/parking requests and allocation. Assist with major gift operations including gift processing, donor recognition and stewardship. Assist with special events, game-day operations and other duties specified by MAC staff. Essential functions include communicating and interacting effectively, respectfully and appropriately within the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and MACdonors. Handle multiple tasks in a high stress environment and possesses strong interpersonal skills. Maintain the ability and willingness to work some nights and weekends. Efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Microsoft Office, Paciolan, Raiser’s Edge).

Facilities and Event Management Assistantship

Graduate assistant will be required to be the onsite event manager for all home events for the following sports: Volleyball, Women’s soccer, Men’s soccer, Women’s basketball, Wrestling, Gymnastics, and Baseball. GA will be required to assist in event management for all home events for the following sports: Football, Men’s basketball. GA will be responsible for renting, delivering, recharging, and maintaining all game-day radios and accompanying equipment for Athletic Department staff for all sports listed above. GA will be responsible for obtaining payment for officials, umpires, referees, judges, etc. for all sports listed above. GA will be responsible for the timely return of all signed receipts of payment to the Athletic business Office.

WVU Alumni Association Graduate Assistantship

The WVU Alumni Association is seeking applicants for a graduate assistant to support the Alumni Association and its operations. Come create new traditions at the alumni association that will forever be marked with Mountaineer Nation. Responsibilities include assisting with marketing and executing alumni programming to benefit all audiences. Updating all spreadsheets, stewardship activities and data management for potential donors. Must have clear verbal and nonverbal skills while interacting with staff, guests of the Erickson Alumni Center and alumni. GA will assist in event management of alumni events. Must be available to work home football games, nights and weekends for special events.

United Way Campaign Graduate Assistant

The WVU President’s Office seeks applicants for a Graduate Assistant position, working directly with the annual WVU United Way campaign. The successful candidate will assist with development and execution of the annual charitable campaign, which annually raises over $300,000 for the local community. The candidate will oversee promotion, coordination, and partnerships for the annual Gold Rush event and work directly with all campaign events and activities.
