CATS Graduate Teaching Assistantships

Responsibilities include teaching 6 credit hours a semester in at least one of three areas with the Department of Coaching & Teaching Studies (CATS) - Athletic Coaching Education (ACE), Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) and/or the Basic Instruction Program (PE). GTAs are required to prepare syllabi, lesson plans, and assess students' learning across the different learning domains.

Kidematics Instructor/Program Supervisor Position

Kidematics operate before and after school programs at two locations in Monongalia County. We also operate Summer programs at one of the school locations for children in grades K-8. Kidematics uses physical activity to promote the health and well-being of school aged children. The program also teaches social skills related to motivation, coping, relationships, and responsibility.

The GSA will be responsible for teaching Kidematics themes (five morning lessons and five afternoon lessons) per week between the hours of 7-8:15 am and 2:30-5:30pm and assist in the coordination of daily operations. The program operates on the count school calendar (10 month position). GSA must undergo mandatory Kidematics training prior to appointment.

Coaching and Sport Education Specific

Strength and Conditioning High School Program Director

Graduate assistants in the Strength and Conditioning position will work on site at an area high school. GA duties include working with all scholastic sports programs and coaches, writing workout plans and providing instruction, maintaining the strength and conditioning facilities, maintaining a safe environment, and working and communicating with the athletic training staff. Qualified applicants should have experience working with athletes and teams in a strength and conditioning setting and an exercise science, kinesiology or related undergraduate degree. An earned NSCA CSCS is preferred but not required.
