Biographical Sketch

Cheryl Kennedy received her B.S. Degree in Physical Education in 1981 and her Master’s Degree in Safety Management in 1982 from WVU. She was also a member of the WVU women’s basketball team. Cheryl worked in safety at New York City Transit for 36 years. She served as the Vice President of System Safety at New York City Transit for 18 years where she was responsible for the development and oversight of all aspects of a comprehensive safety program for the subway and bus system in New York City. New York City Transit is the largest transit property in North America carrying over 2 billion customers annually and has over 46,000 employees. Cheryl also served on the United States Department of Transportation, Transit Rail Advisory Committee for Safety which provided information, advice, and recommendations to the Secretary of Transportation and the Administrator of the Federal Transit Administration on all matters related to the safety of public transportation. She and her husband Michael now reside in Morgantown, WV.
