Biographical SketchProfessor Bruce Wilmoth , a native of Virginia, received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Brigham Young University. He has been with the College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, since the fall of 1967, and retires as an associate professor.
Bruce taught rhythm and games classes in the College’s Physical Education Teacher Education discipline and one section of Introduction to Physical Education. He also taught a clogging class for the Basic Instruction Program. Bruce served as the Faculty Advisor to the WVU Folk Dance Club and the WVU Clogging Club. The two clubs have presented programs to various groups, too numerous to list, around the Morgantown area, State of West Virginia, and out-of-state.
He served as the Coordinator of the College’s Lifetime Activities Program. Bruce served as the Activity Director for the National Youth Sports Program for the past twenty-two years, a program sponsored by the NCAA which is conducted for economically disadvantaged youth between the ages of 10-16 each summer for four/five weeks. He received the Dean’s Service Award in 2009 for his service with the NYSP.
Bruce is a very active member of the West Virginia Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (WVAHPERD), Midwest District AAHPERD, and the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. He served as president of WVAHPERD and has also served as Membership Chair. and is currently president-elect of the Midwest District AAHPERD. He has served on the Midwest District Advocacy Committee and Nominations Committee.
Bruce is married to Janet Wilmoth. They have four children: Melissa Cass (Roger), Erin Transfiguracion (Rodney), Chris (Rebecca), and Bart. Bruce and Janet have six grandchildren: Brianne, Rebecca, R.J. and Kristina Cass, and Abigail and Isabella Transfiguracion.
