Event Information
Test your abilities at the 5th annual Get Lost! Orienteering Competition. The Get Lost! Orienteering Competition is a wilderness based navigation challenge. During this event competitors will have up to 4-hours to score points by locating various checkpoints using only a map, compass, and their sense of adventure. Be sure to come join the fun! There are categories for solo racers and two person teams.
When:
Sunday, March 10, 2013 Coopers Rock State Forest – starting at 10:00 am
Race day registration will be held from 8:00 am until 9:30 am
Pre-Race Meeting and Map Release will take place at 9:30 am on race day
Where:
Coopers Rock State Forest
Registration/check-in will be held at the main Coopers Rock overlook pavilion at the far end of the main park road.
Entry Fee:
Event registration is $30.00/solo and $60.00/two-person team for entries received by February 21, 2013.
Entry from February 22nd through race day will increase the fee to $35.00/solo and $70.00/two-person team.
Details:
Each racer/team will receive a custom race map. Participants registered by Feb. 21st will also receive a custom event t-shirt. Late entries will receive t-shirts until supplies are gone. Delicious post-event food and beverages will be provided at the post-event party! Compasses are NOT provided and not required.
About the Event:
This event is open to participants age 16 and older for the solo division. The minimum age for the 2-person division is 12 years old with one person over the age of 18 also on the team. All participants will be required to sign the appropriate race waiver at race check-in. Participants under the age of 18 will also be required to have their parent or legal guardian sign that they are granting permission for the minor to enter the event. Please note that there is NO Rain Date. We will race rain or shine. Entry fees are non-refundable for any reason.
Categories:
Awards will be presented to the top participants from the following categories: Novice Solo Male/Female, Intermediate-Advanced Solo Male/Female, Two Person Male/Female/Co-ed, & Masters Solo Male/Female (age 40+).
