Policies
LATE FEES/REGISTRATION DEADLINES
We encourage everyone to register early. Anyone registering the day class begins or later will be charged a $10.00 late fee. Stansbury Fitness Center Membership is the only program that has pro-rated fees and ongoing registration with no late fees.
ABSENCES FROM CLASSES
Due to class size and skill levels, participants are not allowed to attend a different class in order to make up an absence.
REFUNDS
Registration in a class does not automatically reserve the right to a refund. If the Lifetime Activities Program cancels a class for any reason, a full or pro-rated refund will be issued to the participant. A $20 processing fee will be charged for all other refunds. No refunds or credits will be issued for participant withdrawal after the start of the class. To cancel a registration for class you must contact the office at 304-293-0859. Full refunds will not be made unless classes are cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or extenuating circumstances on a case by case basis.
CANCELLATIONS
The Lifetime Activities Program reserves the right to cancel a class if the minimum enrollment is not reached; to make changes in course dates or times; to substitute instructors when necessary due to emergencies or unforeseen circumstances. If a class/course is cancelled by the Lifetime Activities Program, you will receive a refund and/or a make-up session. Currently registered participants will be contacted via email/phone in the event of scheduling changes. If your class is cancelled, you will be notified no later than the day prior to the scheduled start date.
SAFETY
Please consult your physician before beginning any exercise regimen. WVU accepts no responsibility for treatment of injuries other than rendering immediate first aid. The College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, and the Lifetime Activities Program make every effort to ensure that our classes are safe and properly supervised. LAP classes are activity based, which by their nature presents the possibility of injury.
Physician’s health permits are required before participation in some designated classes. All health/medical information is kept confidential and valid for one year from date of issue. Instructors reserve the right to require a health permit on an individual basis.
No one will be allowed on the pool deck unless enrolled in class. Children are not permitted in pool observation areas without an adult present.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
Lifetime Activity Program classes are automatically cancelled when inclement weather causes WVU to be officially closed. University cancellations are announced on WAJR and WVAQ radio stations. Make up classes will be added to the end of the session for weather related cancellations.
The Lifetime Activities Program makes every effort to provide accurate, up-to-date information via the websites: http//cpass.wvu.edu/lap or www.lifetimeactivities.org.
