Dr. Chip Zimmer earned his B.S. in recreation administration in 1974 and his M.S. in sport psychology in 1976 from WVU. He received his Ph.D. in business and sport management from the University of Maryland in 1981. Zimmer served as a commissioner for the USA Volleyball Chesapeake Region and founded Tri-State FCA Volleyball Club. Currently, he is a professor of business administration at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, W.Va. While at WVU, Zimmer was the coordinator of men’s intramural sports, general manager of the “Old Pros,” and played Freshman Baseball. He was inducted into The Mountain, ranking men’s honorary and into Sphinx, senior men’s honorary. Zimmer elected to two terms as the student representative on the WVU Athletic Council. He is the only person who is an Honorary Member of both the University of Maryland “M” Club and the WVU Varsity Club. His wife Barbara is also a WVU alumna, they live in Hagerstown, Md. His interests include waterfowl hunting, fly fishing and World War II and Revolutionary War history. Zimmer is active in the Scottish Rite Freemasons and Knights of St. Andrew.
